Question
If you are an advanced user, you can revise any Chapter 13 plan template provided by EZ-Filing (except that for Puerto Rico). By revising the plan template, you give all future plans you create from that template the appearance and content you want. You can do any of the following:
- Revise the format of the plan—for example, change its margins or fonts.
- Add text that you want to appear in all plans for your district—for example, clarifications, disclaimers, and explanations. You might, for example, clarify when property revests to the debtor(s) or whether tax refunds are to be applied to the plan payments.
- Change the types of claims that are shown throughout sections of a plan by replacing the default delimiter tags that bracket the data for a certain type of claim. For example, you might do this if the trustee had very recently changed the plan for your district or if your interpretation differed from the EZ-Filing template.
- Change the data for a claim by replacing default operation tags with tags that better represent your interpretation of the required data.
Notes:
At any time, you can undo the changes you made to the template and reset it to its original default settings.
EZ-Filing Technical Support does not provide assistance for customizing Chapter 13 plan templates. Instead, use this instruction to assist you in the process. To customize the template for a Chapter 13 plan:
- In the main menu bar, click System>Document Library>Chapter 13 Plans.
- In the Chapter 13 Plans window, select the plan you want to customize, and click Edit.
- In the text-editor window, add or revise text that you want to appear in all future plans for your district. For more information, see How do I use the EZ-Filing text editor?
- Search for tags that you want to replace with other tags.
(Operation tags appear as <fee>, and delimiter tags include a tilde <~cure>)
- Replace default tags or add new tags:
- To change the data that appears for the claim(s) in a section, replace one operation tag with another. For more information, see What are Chapter 13 operation tags?
For example, you can replace operation tag <debt> (the amount owed for the repayment class) with operation tag <owed> (the total amount owed to the creditor). - To change the type of claim that appears in a section of the plan, replace the two delimiter tags with a different pair. For more information, see What are Chapter 13 delimiter tags?
For example, you can replace delimiter tags <~ltdhome> (which show all claims on the debtor’s principal residence) with delimiter tags <~curehome> (which show only claims on which there is an arrearage).
- Repeat steps 4-5 until you’ve changed all the tags you want to revise.
- Select File>Save to save your work.
- Select File>Exit to close the text-editor window.
