When the deduction and withholding categories are identical for all the debtors paychecks you need to enter, create a fast-entry template in EZ-Filing® to expedite the data-entry process. You can also add other deduction categories, such as 401K and union dues, when creating the fast-entry template.
- In the main menu bar, select Client>Form B22… to open the Statement of Current Monthly Income… window.
- On the Income tab, in the Wages, salary, tips… area, click
to open the Add Employer (New) window.
- Select whether the income is for the Debtor or the Spouse.
You can select Spouse only if the marital/filing status is Individual (Married) or Joint.
- If the debtor's payments are to be deducted from this employer's paychecks, check-mark Primary Employer.
Note: If you do not designate the primary employer, EZ-Filing selects the employer from which the debtor draws the largest wage.
- Do one of the following:
- If you added the employer to your Address Book, select the employer's Name from the list.
- If this is a new employer, fill in the name, address, city, state, ZIP Code, contact information, and telephone of the employer.
Note: For telephone numbers, type the 10-digit number and, if applicable, the extension, using spaces and no special characters. For example: 720 995 3406 X 355
- Enter the debtor's Occupation and the number of years and months Employed.
- In the Paychecks area, check-mark Use fast-entry paycheck template.
- Click
to open the Fast-Entry Templates… window and do one of the following:

To create a new template:

To edit an existing template:

To use an existing template:

a. Click New to open the Fast-Entry Template window.

a. Select the template, and click Edit to open the Fast-Entry Template window. |
a. Select the template, and click Use to open the Fast-Entry Paycheck window. |
b. To automatically fill in the Paycheck Date for each paycheck after the first you enter, select the number of days in the pay period. |
b. Make changes as needed.

c. Review the list under Paycheck entry, and double-click those categories that you want to remove from the template. |
c. Click OK to save your work and return to the Fast-Entry Paycheck Templates window.

d. To add, edit, or delete a paycheck category, click Add/Edit Paycheck Deductions to open the Paycheck Deductions window.
- To add a category, click
, name the category in the Response Value column, press tab, and then select a Form B22 Line Assignment from the list.
- To edit a category, double-click the category in the Response Value column, edit the text box, press the Tab key, and then reselect a Form B22 Line Assignment from the list.
- To delete a category, select the category in the Response Value column, click
, then click Yes when the confirmation message appears.
e. Click to save your work and close the window.
f. To add a category to the template, double-click the item in the Paycheck categories list.
g. To reorder the entries, select an entry in the Paycheck entry list and click to move it up or to move it down.
h. In the Auto-complete fields by area, do one of the following:
- (default)To automatically advance to the next field as soon as you type a decimal point followed by two numbers, select Entry of decimal point….
- To manually advance to the next field using the arrow keys, select Do not auto-complete….
i. In the Use verification process area, do one of the following:
- (default)To verify the net amount of the check by typing it, select Enter net check
- To verify by comparing the net amount of the check with the net amount calculated by EZ-Filing, select Sight verify...
j. To set up audio playback for the check verification, choose from the following:
- (default) Plays back "Okay" for verified checks and "Error" for non-verified checks.
- To replace the default sounds, click
, navigate to your audio file, and click Open. Note: To hear the audio playback, you must have your sound turned on. See the user documentation for your operating system for more information.
k. To save your template, check-mark Save Template, enter a name for your template, then click OK to save your changes and open the Fast-Entry Paycheck window.

9. Add paycheck information, using the Fast-Entry template that you designed. For efficient data entry, we recommend that you use the numeric key pad, the Enter key and the UP and DOWN arrow keys.
a. Type the Paycheck Date, and press Enter. For the supported date formats, see What format do I use when entering dates in fields?
: :b. :Enter the amounts for each field in your template.
: :c. :Do one of the following:
- If you selected Enter Net Check in step 8i, type the net amount of the check and press the Enter key. If you hear the "Okay" sound, enter the data for another check. If you hear the "Error" sound, review the income and deductions you entered and revise them as necessary. Then return to the Net Check field and press the Enter key.
- If you selected Sight verify in step 8i, review the Net Check amount for accuracy. If it is accurate, click Accept to enter another check. If it is not accurate, review the income and deductions you entered and revise them as necessary.
d. Click Close to display the debtor's average monthly income in the Add Employer window.
10. If you want to include paycheck information on Schedule I, check-mark Include on Schedule I. Note: If the Include on Schedule I check box does not appear, see How can I integrate income from Form B22 with Schedule I? to reset your paycheck preferences to integrate form B22 payroll entries with Schedule I employment.
a. From the list, select the paycheck to use:
- To use the last check from the employer, select Last check.
- To use a specific check that you'll identify in step 10d, select Specific check.
Note: If the debtor has experienced a sizeable drop in the current monthly income that is not reflected in an average of the last six months of income, select Specific check and the check that most accurately reflects this decrease in income.
- To use the average of all the checks from the employer, select Average check.
c. From the Pay period list, select the interval between paychecks.
d. If you selected Specific Check in step 10b: In the Paychecks area, in the Period Ending column, select the option button next to the paycheck you want to use for Schedule I.
11. Click OK to display the debtor's average monthly income in the Wages, salary, tips… area of the Statement of Current Monthly Income… window. Note: If the paycheck information appears dimmed, the paycheck date is outside the income inclusive dates and will not be included in the means test calculation.
12. Add other wages, salary, tips, bonus, or commissions, using the steps in this procedure.
