How do I add a new client case?
In EZ-Filing > Case management > Client cases In EZ-Filing > Case management > EZ-Manage
Answer
You can add a new client case using the default setup or from the EZ-Manage™ window. You must set case management preferences to view the EZ-Manage window. For more information, see How do I set preferences for case management?
Field
Description or action
Type
Debtor
Enter the debtor's name.
Spouse
If you selected Joint as the debtor type, enter the spouse's name.
Chapter
Select the bankruptcy chapter from the list.
Jurisdiction
Select the district in which you are filing.
Note: If the district you need does not appear in the selection list, you need to activate the state that includes that district. See Activate states in the related tasks below.
Exemption Law
EZ-Filing automatically selects the exemption law that corresponds to the jurisdiction.
Case Number
If the case has already been filed with the court, enter the case number.
Commenced On
To enter the filing data, do one of the following:
Fee Received On/Amount
If you have received any portion of the fee:
Note: You can set up EZ-Filing to automatically answer Question 9 on the Statement of Financial Affairs using the information in the Law Firm window and the date and amount that you enter on the Fee Received On and Amount text boxes. See Statement of Financial Affairs.
Attorney
To identify the preparer of the case, do one of the following:
