Question
If you have client information stored on Best Case® Bankruptcy and would like to transfer that data to EZ-Filing, you can easily convert your entire set of Best Case files, including client files, system files, and the master list of creditors to EZ-Filing.
The conversion process will not include any Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) changes. Thus, after a conversion, you must enter the post-reform information into the files for any post-reform clients.
- In the main menu bar, select File>Convert Best Case® to open the Upgrade from Best Case window.
- To display the existing Best Case client files, do one of the following:
- Select Active to display all active client files.
- Select Closed to display all closed client files.
- Select All to display the complete list of client files.
Note: Depending on the status of your Best Case clients, some of the option buttons may be disabled. For example, the files may consistently be all Active or all Closed.
- To select the client files you want to convert to EZ-Filing, do one or more of the following:
- Check-mark the files in the list that you want to convert.
- Click Check All or press Ctrl + A to convert all files.
- If you don’t want to convert the Best Case system files, such as the list of common creditors, exemptions, law firm information, etc., uncheck Also upgrade system files.
Note: If you’ve already begun to use EZ-Filing and you’ve added creditors to the Names and Addresses list, EZ-Filing will not convert the Best Case system files, and Also upgrade system files will appear disabled.
- Click OK to start the conversion.
When the conversion is complete, the Conversion Summary window opens listing the names of the clients whose files were converted and any specifics that you may need to address in the client file.
- Click OK again to close the window.
If you converted only one client in this process file, EZ-Filing opens the file.
